Marie Wallace Collins, 83 was born to the late John Roy Wallace and Annie Mae Slappey Crittenden-Wallace, Wallace on September 24, 1934 in Ellaville, Georgia. Marie received her early education in Andersonville, Georgia. She relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and completed her education at Florida Community College. Marie was married to Willie. L. Collins, Sr. on July 10, 1955. They were married for 12 years and after a short illness, Willie preceded her in death. Three children were born Linda, Debra and Willie Jr. Marie spent many years as a housekeeper for Ramada Inn Jacksonville and later became the morning cook at Burger King Restaurants until her retirement.
Marie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age. She was a member of Holy Church of the Living God. She loved attending church when she was physically able and loved the time she spent praising God. Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her smile would light up a room, and she loved spending time with her family, singing old church hymns, praying for others and reading her bible.
Marie was the youngest daughter of 9 children. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers Fred Crittenden, Vera Crittenden, James Crittenden, Jannie Stafford, Eva Asberry (Detroit, MI) and Ruthie Lee.
Marie leaves behind to cherish her memories: daughters, Linda (Benny) Taylor and Debra (Clarence Sr.) Edwards; son, Willie Jr. (Phyllis) Collins; sisters, Ada Edwards of Detrot, MI and Eunice Juanita Green; brother, Johnny R. Wallace, Jr.; 8 grandchildren, Clarence Edwards, Jr., Kiara (Mose) Edwards-Warren, Craig Edwards, Kelly Collins, Erica Collins, Bennecia Taylor, William (Derricka) Collins and Jamar Taylor; 11 great-grandchildren, Samya, Nija, Xavier, Audrey, Kiryana, Alexander, Kayla, Kamari, Caliyah, Jalai and Alexander; she also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Willie A. Collins; sister-in-law, Lucille Thomas, Rosa Stewart and Eloise (Clint) Williams; Marie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her very much.
