Charlie was born on May 8, 1944 to the late Walter Lee Smith, Sr. and Louvinie Battle Smith in Americus, Georgia. He attended Corinth High School. Charlie was united in holy matrimony to Linda Smith in Folkston, Georgia on April 30, 1977.

Charlie departed this life on Thursday, November 1, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Charchanetta Smith and brother, Walter Smith.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Linda M. Smith; children, Charlie Smith, Jr., Alecia Smith; stepdaughter, Felecia Green (Terrence) and Joya Robinson; brothers, Dan Smith (Lorraine) and Horace Smith; sisters, Annie Smith and Pula Woods; brother-in-law, Spencer L. Everett; sister-in-law, Wanda Stephens; aunts, Minnie Battle and Priscilla Riley; uncle, Johnny Smith; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a good friend, Marvin Sanders.
