Obituary for Michael Antonio Williams

Print
Michael Antonio Williams was born on March 8, 1962 to Annie L. Williams and Roosevelt Williams in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the local schools in Jacksonville, graduating from William M. Raines Senior High School, Class of 1980. Michael accepted Christ early in life, being baptized at Second Missionary Baptist Church. He later united with Greater Holy Temple COGIC now known as Cathedral of Faith COGIC where he served faithfully as a Deacon, Leader of the Bus Ministry and President of the Male Usher Board. Michael also was instrumental in starting the Young Adult Usher Board Ministry. At an early age, Michael realized the benefit of serving God through his love for others. He had a special passion for the young and elderly. He understood the true meaning of JOY = JESUS OTHERS YOURSELF. Unselfishly putting others before himself.

Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Gloria G. Fluitt on July 6, 1991. Together they have two children. He was an entrepreneur for several businesses, MG & J Lawn Service and Williams Daycare. Michael was employed for over 16 years at Pic N’ Save Drug Store as a Hardware Manager. He later became employed with Merita Bakery for over 17 years. His love for driving allowed him to drive for Dana Limousine Service, including driving their passenger buses.

Michael departed this life to his eternal home on Friday, January 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roosevelt Williams, Sr.; grandmothers, Rosa Lee Williams and Dorothy Jackson; brother, Kenneth Williams.

Michael leaves to cherish “precious memories”: His loving and devoted wife of over 26 years, Gloria G. Williams; son, Michael Jamal Williams; daughter, Mamie LaToya Barnhill-Cuyler (Lamar) of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, La’Darius and LaDestiny Cuyler of Tacoma, WA; mother, Annie L. Williams; father, Roosevelt Williams (Lynda); 2nd mother, Barbara Williams; sisters, Penny Lockwood (Sinclair), Cheryl Barnes (William), Sheronda Smith (Nolan) and Tierra Miller (George); brother-in-law, Kenneth Fluitt; sisters-in-law, Angie Debarlabon (Mike) of Duluth, GA, Marilyn Watkins and Donna Williams; a host of aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; numerous godchildren; many loving cousins, among them Tish Cotto (Gregg) of Fayetteville, NC; other relatives, friends and his church family.

Michael’s presence on this earth will be remembered by a countless number of people. A suitable phrase can describe his life, “If I can help somebody as I travel along, if I can help somebody with a word or song, if I can help somebody from doing wrong, then my living shall not be in vain” ~Mahalia Jackson
