David Cooper, Jr. was born on July 21, 1944 to David and Mary E. Cooper Sr. He confessed Christ at an early age, where he was baptized and later became a deacon at Genesis Baptist Church. David received his education and graduated from Stanton Vocational High School. He joined the United States Army where he served for many years. Upon completion of the military he went to work for the United States Postal Service.
David departed this life on Monday, August 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Cooper Sr. and Mary E. Cooper; son, David B. Cooper; brothers, Bernard Davis Remus, Howard Simmons, and Howell Simmons; niece, Cyntenia Cooper; cousin and caretaker, Susie Ann Jones.
David leaves to mourn his passing, children, Catherine Hubbard, Monica Watkins (Franklin), David G. Cooper (Andrea), Carla Cooper, and Cassandra Cooper; grandchildren, Antomeca Hall (Charles), Brittany Hubbard, David G. Cooper II, Krizia McGaulie, Franklin Watkins II, Danielle Carlisle, and Darielle Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Charles Hall IV, August Hall, and Breon McClaine; sisters, Willie Mae Lane (Wilbert), Edith Simmons, Yolando Lanier (Kenneth), and Betty Bostic; brothers, Alphonso Cooper (Betty) and Carl Cooper; nieces and nephews, Rahsan Washington (Clarence), Charlie Chimmir, Nigel, Detrich, Tim (Sylvia), Tracy, Kevin Carshonda, Carlos, and Mary; dear friends and extended family members, Bill Bruton, Regina Brooker, Emma Williams, Lillie Walker & Family, Terrance Williams, Patricia Cooper, Thomasina Murphy (Bill), Keith Williams, Joyce Thomas (Clarence), and Royce Glen.
The funeral service for David Cooper Jr. will be held 11AM, Monday, August 8th, 2016 at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. The visitation will be 2 - 5PM , Sunday, at the mortuary.
