Obituary for Vera D Marshall

Mother Marshall was the daughter of the late Reverend Isaiah Miller Sr. and Mrs. Martha Houston Miller, born March 5th , 1932 in Madison County, Florida. Unto this union five children were born, Willie Mae (deceased), Mattie Lou, Isaiah Jr. (deceased), Vera Dean (deceased), and Delores Victoria.

Mother Marshall received her primary school education in Madison County, Florida. She was converted and gave her life to Christ at an early age at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church. In the late 40’s, the family relocated to Quincy, Florida (Gadsden County). Mother Marshall grew up as a young adult continuing her quest and love of God. She attended Mt. Pilgrim Primitive Baptist church where she served on the Usher Board and taught Sunday School. After completing High school, she trained and practiced cosmetology for many years. During that time, she also worked for several years as a Secretary/Bookkeeper at Steven High School, she aimed to be the best at whatever she endeavored. In later years, she worked as a Mental Health Assistant at the State Hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. In 1968, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she continued her quest for the love of her career. She was employed after her arrival by Southern Bell, Florida Junior College, Turtle Creek Health Care Center and she later worked as a Phlebotomist for the State of Florida Health Department. Her service was tendered there for some thirty years until she retired in 2014.

Mother Marshall was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost in 1969 at West Bible Way Church in Jacksonville, Florida. She served at Acts of the Apostle Bible Way Church at the local, District and Diocesan levels as Usher, Missionary, Secretary and Mother.

Mother Marshall entrust to cherish wonderful memories her two loving sisters, Mother Mattie Strong and Ms. Delores Miller (Jacksonville, FL); sister-in-law, Mrs. Naziree Miller (Syracuse, NY); god-daughter, Rowena Blue (Alvin) (Waldorf, MD); eleven nieces; eleven nephews; many cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Vera D Marshall will be held 10:00 am Saturday, August 20th, 2016 at the Zarephath Tabernacle 1028 East 10th Street Jacksonville, Florida 32206. The visitation will be 5 --7PM, Friday, at the Acts of The Apostle Bibleway Church 1025 Pippin Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
