Mr. Lawrence Lorenzo Davis, Sr. affectionately known as “Slop”/Big Dave” was born on November 5, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida. Lawrence received his early education in the Duval County Public School System, graduating from Matthew Gilbert High School, Class of 1968 where he served as captain of the football team. Lawrence continued his education at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. His church affiliation was with Greater Macedonia Baptist Church of the Northside, under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Landon L. Williams, Sr., Pastor.
Lawrence departed this life for a greater one, to be with his Savior on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Loretta Davis and sister, Lizette Davis Stiles.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Deborah Denise Davis; daughter, Latrina Hall (Kevin); son, Lawrence Davis, Jr. (LaTasha); grandchildren, Latia Lanece Hill (Tyrell), Lawrence Davis III (Trey), Quintessa Wright, Tiphanie Hall (Tip Tip), Trenton Hall and Tayla Davis; great-grandson, Maurice Wright; brothers, Lynn Davis (Johnnie Pearl) and Lanny Davis (Ella); sister, Lynda Davis; sister-in-laws, Renee Edwards (Khalil) and Sheila Ingram; brother-in-law, Attorney Donald Robinson (Karen); godmothers, Allie Jordan and Ella Blanch; goddaughter, Taryn Pierre and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends.
